Happy 5 Months Old, Tyler!

Baby Tyler is growing up so fast!! I think I have problem with keeping up with him! =)

My Baby~

He's so sociable nowadays with all the interaction going on with everyone he sees. He laughs out loud alot when tickled, shown a funny face or looking at mirror reflection of himself... He can now play alone (for about 10 to 15mins) in his gym or rocker, pulling and tugging the toys...

His current favourite past time is bouncing... Boing boing boing~
Refuses to sit still and demands anybody who is carrying him to let him "Boing" up and down! He finds pure pleasure while we all feel aches on our arms! =)

This boy is now drinking milk lying on his back in his cot while watching his mobile and holding his toys! That way he would at least drink up a little bit better... Needless to say, I have to continue to entertain him during the whole process (takes up to 45mins). During the late morning and the afternoon feeds, he would poo halfway through his feed. So I'll have to change him and try to continue feeding and depending on his "mood" he'll deny or feed on... Sigh~

Nap time is slightly better because I resort back to swaddling him during the day... He won't flail his hands and legs uncontrollably and so it's easier to settle him back to sleep.

Night time however, has changed. He is more reluctant to go down easy... Usually, I'll hold him in my arms and pat pat him for less than 10mins and he'll doze off... BUT recently, he keeps kicking and sometimes it'll take me more than 30mins before his closes his eyes (he'll just stare in the dark) then when I put him down, he turn to one side and starts wriggling and pulling and scratching the bedsheet. I guess it's part and parcel of him growing up and learning to sleep. I'm praying he'll learn soon!!! Also, I'll try cutting down on his naptime...

He doing so so on solids up til now... He doesn't really open wide when spoon come flying towards him... So far, he can only swallow about 2 teaspoons of baby rice... The rest usually ends up on his bib~ Will persevere on the training! I've only gave him baby rice, carrot and so far his favourite was Banana!!

Dr. T is quite happy with Tyler's development... He can sit up without support for a few seconds; urge to crawl towards toys; rolling over; passing toy from one hand to the other; discovering his feet and toes...

Had his 2nd dose of Pneumococcal vaccine during the visit... (When does the shots ever end?!?!) This time he cried a little longer, I guess he's more aware of pain now than before...

We're giving him Appeton Multi Vits for Infants instead of Nutroplex for about a week already... Reason is simple... Cos it tastes much better so he likes having it...

His weight is currently in the 50 percentile while his height lies in the 75 to 90 percentile. His head circumference looks much better now, so I'm not that concern anymore. He's growing well despite problems with feeding... Though sadly, he's not looking as chubby as before~

Tyler's Weight: 7.806kg
Tyler's Height: 68cm

Solids at 4M4W1D!!

Today, I decided to start Tyler on his First Taste!

Initially, I wanted to start him on banana... BUT! My help accidentally placed the unripe bananas in the fridge last night~

Anyway, CARROTS!!
I steamed and blended a medium sized carrot in the AVENT Steam Blender (so easy to use!) Then added some formula milk into the puree.

I sat him in the Bumbo chair, turn on the TV, put on his Big Boss Bib and started flying the first flight of solids into the runway.... He opened his mouth and then, Tyler's expression was... BLANK! I think he was shocked at the foreign taste then when he realised, he gave the "sour" squinting face... It was quite funny... Just ashame I don't have extra hands to video this... Then he started pushing them out with his tongue and needless to say, I pushed them back... We played the game of spitting and pushing back in~ haha! I think he probably swallowed at least 1/3 of the portion of roughly 2 teaspoons I parted for him... which is not bad for a start!
Before

After

Going to freeze the remaining portions!

Sad to say, there has been no improvements in his milk intake... I heard it was suppose to be a phase... Well, this phase has been more than 2 months now~ Still taking less than 20oz in 24hours...

Hopefully, he'll enjoy food more than he enjoys milk!
(I'm going to be a really sneaky Mother cos I intend to add some of those formula into all his food...)
