Chulalongkorn Day

It's a substitute Public Holiday today because Chulalongkorn Day was on Saturday, 23 Oct, 2010. He is considered one of the greatest kings of Siam. So the day is to remember the day he passed. Well, most of what I can remember of him was what I've studied in Secondary school and that he is Mongkut's son. Also, I remember him as the cute little boy with lots of questions in the movie, The King and I (1956).

Tiki Playing

We made dinner tonight. It tires me quite alot after making the meal. My feet and back would hurt. But then it's all worth it, because we get to eat something home-made and we're quite sick of eating out all the time. Tiki made his renowned Lotus roots soup while I made Eggs with french beans and tomatoes, Stir-fried bok choy, Dark Soy sauce chicken leg and Brown rice... I can't wait for my Parents to arrive! Then we can kick back and enjoy all my favourite home-cooked food!

We had a very relaxing and laid back long weekend. The usual groceries shopping on Sunday. Bought a couple of plastic drawers for Bao Bao's massive wardrobe collection as well as a New toy for him! I thought the night light was pretty cute~

Sea Turtle Night Lights
On Saturday, we visited Dr Suvit for our fortnightly check-up. From our last visit, he told us that he'll be doing an ultrasound to check on Bao Bao. But he said at 35weeks, there's not much use in checking because you cannot do anything about anything if there's anything wrong... So he advised us to postpone to another 2 weeks later. Tiki and Me were so excited initially to be able to have an ultrasound and see Bao bao since our last scan at 22weeks... so we left with some disappointment. So far everything is normal and good, except my weight gain... I don't think it's a good thing when the gynae says, "Oh my god!" when he sees the number. Oh well, I don't really care now... It is what it is~ I need to eat and I will keep eating! =)

Bao Bao at 35 weeks!

Bao Bao is going to have a new Friend!! hehe~ It's so nice to hear the wonderful news... YEAH!! I can imagine us all playing together... =) I'm going to guess it's a BOY... hehe!
Congratulations Bryan N Cheryl!!

I went out to get somemore stuffs at the Emporium today just in case I won't be able to walk as much later stage. I shopped around for about 2 hours and I felt really tired, as if my ankles are going to give way...  But it was nice out shopping by myself again... But the traffic jam was pretty bad on the way home... I was stuck for about an hour...
Tiki was asking me yesterday, "How come you don't waddle??"
My answer was, "Because I try not to! I can waddle if I want, but as of now, I'm trying not to if I can still help it!" heehee~
I think waddling looks awful, but I know eventually I'll start... Yeah, I know, I'm vain!

The other day, Ash was telling me her pelvic crack when sleeps sometimes during her preganancy... Now I have it too! I was turning to another position then suddenly "CRACK"!! Blah! Hurts big time... Happened a couple of times already... I think I better do more stretching exercises... Hopefully it helps...

Although Prevacid has been helping me with my heartburn, I try not to take it everyday. Some days I get acid burning down my throat or riding up to my mouth. Also, because Bao bao is getting bigger, food gets more difficult to digest. Sometimes, I want to burp but the gas would not come out instead a mixture of food and acid was pushed up into the edge of my throat which I swallowed back in~ It's disgusting and nasty!

I have problem with swallowing solid/liquid into the correct passage nowadays as well... Is this part of the clumsiness of pregnancy or am I blaming everything to it? hehe! What I mean is I choke every once a while and end up coughing like a maniac!

Bao bao is very active now... And I'm very happy about this... I love feeling his butt and thighs when he's squirming around... It's really quite fun~

Window Shopping

Friday night, we had Steamboat at COCA for a change... Tiki and I aren't fans of steamboat but we've been so sick of eating similar food all the time. Not too bad, we had lots of vegetables! I'm sure we'll be heading back there for some simpler food.

On Saturday, Tiki brought me to a Japanese Restaurant, Aoi for lunch... They have several branches in Bangkok, and since we usually do our weekend errands at Emporium, we gave that one a try. Surprisingly, the service and food is really good and most importantly, not overpriced. I was salivating at the sashimi sets... 我忍!!

After lunch, we decided to go window shopping. Tiki is looking for a vest or sweater because according to him, his office is freezing! We popped by Louis Vuitton and Chanel for price check! hehe~ Just for fun! We're not intending to get anything... Wanted to know how much more does it cost in Bangkok. Tiki was in love with a Bag in Louis Vuitton. I just mentioned that maybe we can get a Diaper Bag from LV, then he saw this huge bag big enough for baby stuffs, which I sort of also like... Cos it looked really cool! I checked the price and it cost about a whooping SGD5,000 here! NO WAY I'm going to spend that kind of money on a DIAPER BAG!! I told Tiki, might as well buy Chanel! haha... SO! We walked away and dropped by Chanel to check out the price of my Dream Bag... It's scary how much more it costs here compared to Singapore! At least SGD700 more! It's crazy!

In the end, we didn't even get Tiki's sweater cos he couldn't find anything nice... Next stop, is Gourmet Market to do our grocery shopping... Nothing much, just routine shopping.

In the evening, we pop by the new Anna Restaurant and Art Gallery for dinner. Their menu is almost the same as the Anna and Charlie Cafe, which we frequent. Bummed into the owner, Charlie as we were leaving and I was looking at a picture of how Sathorn Road used to be... Much like a mangrove area... How things have changed.... He did his part of PR and seemed like a nice guy...

Sunday, we chilled at home watching Desperate Housewives while Tiki played with his Computer. We had MacD breakfast again! I suppose Bun with Egg and Bacon along with Hashbrown isn't that bad for health! hehe~ The reason why I love the MacD breakfast here is because they use burger bun instead of muffins... Sooo Soft! I hate MacD's Muffins~

Our Dinner on Sunday

Tiki's ABC Soup
(He say add some dates is sweeter... though I still prefer without.)

My Pork Chop Creation

We tried the Thai Durian we bought on Saturday from Gourmet Market. It's called Kanyaw. Taste pretty good! Will try to eat somemore cos I heard reasonable amount of durian is good for Bao Bao.

Our McD Weekend~

We ordered McD in for dinner on Friday night cos Tiki wants to work out at the gym and traffic on Fridays are the worse in Bangkok! I know... It's not a very good idea for McD & Working out...

Workout + MacD = 0 calories burnt!

But, what the hell~ hehe! We had a Double Fillet Meal each and shared a box of Spicy MacWings... I prefer the McWings in Singapore cos the ones here has got too much Flour~

After dinner, we went to the movies... In the comfort of our very own cozy bedroom... We bought a couple of Dvds back from our last Singapore trip... We watched 葉問-前傳 (Ip Man 3- The Legend is Born). The actor in the movie some how resembles both the REAL 葉問 and Donnie Yen (Donnie Yen was casted as 葉問 in the 2 previous shows) I enjoyed the movie alot! *Clap Clap* for all 3 葉問 movies...
(Impressed that Tiki knows all the characters in the movie well... So I asked him how the **** he knows everyone? He replied: "Thanks to all the Or-bit shows you hated!!" DUH~)

On Saturday, we went to Emporium for Lunch, grocery shopping and baby shopping... Had lunch at Ootoya and bought some  stuffs to cook for Sunday. I'm almost done with baby shopping other than a few items, so we decided to grab those before I get even more tired...

Diapers (2-packs of 84pieces)

Rocker
(was contemplating between bouncer and rocker)

3 More "Cuddle n Dry" Baby Towels
When we got home, Tiki made my weekly chicken essence. It's quite good actually with a few slices of 泡参... For the sake of Bao bao~ I'll drink up! =) And THANK YOU TIKI! It's not easy cleaning, skinning and chopping up the chicken~

Tiki working the Chicken

Waiting for Dinner

We went to All Seasons shopping mall for dinner... There's a Chinese restaurant there offering Peking cuisine... We overheard some Singlish there... They're probably staying at the Conrad Hotel next to the mall...  Food was OK~ Not fantastic, but good enough for us...

Peking Food

Sunday morning, we woke up feeling lazy... We initially planned to walk to Secret Garden for Lunch... I was feeling rather hungry at about 11.30am, so I went to change followed by Tiki. But then after consideration, I said to Tiki, "Shall we have McD?" heehee~ Too lazy, tired and HOT to go out... So we ordered in again! I know I sound like a Fast food junkie, not everyday tho! hehe~ I had a medium Fries, a Deluxe Cheeseburger and 6pieces of McNuggets.. Heavenly~

Ended up we watched the movie, Grey Gardens filmed in 2009 on HBO together. (I've already watched it Saturday night, but it's so interesting that I watched it again). Drew Barrymore depicted Little Edie fantastically! The pair of eccentric mother and daughter really got me thinking... I went to do further research on them. Then I watched the documentary, Grey Gardens filmed in 1975, watch the documentary here. (I also found the site offer free documentaries! Yipee~)Watch and let me know what you think... =) I find it amazing how Hollywood is able to find or replicate everything, especially the costumes based on the 1975 documentary... Oh ya, I think they made it into a Musical at Broadway too...
Grey Gardens 1975 Vs Grey Gardens 2009

For dinner, Tiki made Lotus soup with wolfberries, dried octopus and pork ribs. I on the other hand made Lamb Chop for Tiki and Wagyu Beef for myself.  For sides, we had butter baked potatoes, caesar salad and garlic bread... Yum Yum!

Last but not least...
Since we bought a tub of WALL's vanilla ice-cream on Saturday. I decided to have some for dessert after our home-made dinner. When I opened the tub, I laughed out super loud!! hahaha... I ran to Tiki and told him to take a picture of me...
Tada~
*Vanilla Boobies*
Have a Wonderful Week Ahead!! =)

Bao Bao at 24 weeks!

It's raining like crazy out there right now... I can bearly make out the building next to ours... Thankfully there's no lightning and thunder...

Today, I'm 24 weeks pregnant and I'm looking very pregnant. The Size 10 pants that I bought/ brought over from Singapore can hardly fit anymore... So I've been trying to eat healthier providing the essential vitamins and protein for Bao bao that's why my weight gain isn't multiplying like it should be... Cutting all my favourite carbs!! Just lots of vegetables and meat... My current weight is about 64kg.

My Baby Bump at 24 weeks

我是一粒球!

Bao bao's movement makes me go nuts sometimes... Usually I wake up at about 9.30 every morning. But Bao bao has been waking me up everyday at about 8am. He kick really hard when I turn to my left and when I turn to my right, he kick again!! For a light sleeper like me, I'm not really enjoying this kind of kicks... hehe... I've also discovered another song Bao bao likes... The Lord's Prayer... I was just casually listening to different versions of that song when he cannot stop kicking inside... Could be due to the high-pitches... Now I'm introducing Time to Say Goodbye...

We received the Crib, Changing Mattress and Car Seat for Bao bao today... They look great!
Since we got a Yellow stroller already, this time we decided on a Red car seat from Chicco (pronounced: Kee-Koh). It's called the Key Fit 30 and comes with a base for easy fitting into the car. So I was just reading the review and looks like there's more good than bad... At least there was 20% discount at the mall that's why we committed to it... I'm looking for crib beddings now... saw plenty on websites, however I'll most probably get them in Singapore!

YES! I've been given the Green-light to go back home!! We've booked the tickets too!! See you in September!! =)

Monday & Tuesday

Monday was a Public Holiday for Thailand... So Tiki had his long weekend bumming around with me!
We went to Soi Convent for the Goose Rice Tiki's dad was raving about during his stay here... I must say the goose was really tasty!! The shop owners are Thai Chinese and they speak Teochew (I'm Hokkien but the language is similar)... So I suppose I understand them and able to converse with them... I'll be sure to revisit soon! YUMMY!

Goose Meat with Goose Blood :: Bittergourd Soup
(Of cos, I resisted the temptation of the blood! blah!)

At night, I was playing and singing-along to some children songs on Youtube when I stumbled across this FUN song called B-I-N-G-O. I recall that it used to be one of my favourites when I was young. So I started to sing and PLAY with Bao Bao... If you know the song well, you'll be familiar with how an alphabet is being omitted each time in the song. So everytime an alphabet is being omitted in that song, I "clap" or tap once on my tummy... It was really fun! And Bao Bao kept kicking~ He just loves nursery rhymes and songs... =)

Other than the Fun part of pregnancy, nowadays I keep having the soreness in my lower abdomen when standing for awhile... Nothing severe... I think it's probably due to the rapid growth of Bao bao and the uterus. I read about it in my pregnancy mantra. But i'll be sure to bring it up during my next visit to Dr Suvit.

Today, I went to Central Chidlom for a reason... There's sale at Marc By Marc Jacobs! 50 to 70% off! How can I miss out on good deals? haha... So anyway, I was shopping around when I felt the soreness in my lower abs again! SO, CRAP! I thought then I had to shorten my trip... So I only grabbed a small sling bag, which I later found out, had a few ways to make use of! Definitely a good buy since it's 50% off retail. I decided to take a quick look at their Baby/Maternal section about another 4 storeys higher. Guess what? The moment I arrived at that section, the soreness is GONE!! (urgh, this baby doesn't want me to be looking at MY OWN stuffs!!) Then I started looking around for baby's stuff and doing some research on crib and car seat, bottles etc... Next, was the part where I looked at baby clothes. And while i was looking at Bao Bao's socks, he kicked my several times! I guess he liked the fact that I am buying some socks for him! hee~ I could actually spent more than an hour looking at baby's stuff without feeling uncomfortable... Well, if it isn't for my lunch date with Tiki I would've stayed on for longer... I had a great time now that I am shopping for tiny cute stuffs!! =) Tiki says he's gonna bring us go shopping again this Saturday!! Yippee!!~~

My New Sling Bag
Yeah, it's gold! what's new? hee~

Bao Bao's 1st Set of New Clothes from Mummy!

On my way back, I bumped into 小小個s (that's how I refer to dogs) which are the doggies of the owner of this property we staying at... They were loitering around the carpark/lobby area... Super cute! There're usually 3 of them... 2 schnuazers (one larger than the other) and one Shih Tzu. My favourtite is the smaller schnuazer... He is so adorable!! Everytime you walk towards him, he will start to crouch lower and lower until he's flat on the ground, waiting for you to stroke him! Then he'll come so close to you, putting his head on your legs... VERY sai nai! hehehe... While the larger one always like to bark at us!! I think he's trying to protect the other 2 by trying to chase us away. Luckily the larger one is out of sight today and I was able to play with the 2 gentle 小小個s. The Nice Security guard (there are 2 here working different shifts -another one not so nice) made a few attempts to take pictures for them... He kept saying "Godzilla... Godzilla" making me wonder if the lil schnauzer's name is Godzilla... hehe~ Tiki said lil one so docile, how can he be Godzilla?! hahaha... Love them 小小個s~!!

Godzilla??

小小個

Joelle is coming to Bangkok tomorrow for a couple of days! Can't wait~ She says Platinum Mall is the tomorrow'a itinerary, I need some new tights, so... Why not? hee~

Super Sunday

Wakey WAKEY, sleepy head!!
Love watching him sleep... So peaceful (if you know what mean... ha!)

We spent the whole morning in bed, watching marathon of "How I Met Your Mother" on Star World... Even had breakfast in bed... It was kinda nice to take it slow over the weekend...

Lunch at Secret Garden this afternoon... I've been craving for the Crepe Cake for the longest time, since my last visit!

Tiki and His not-so-adventurous Strawberry Short Cake

Me and My Yummy Crepe Cake

Tiki is busy preparing soup for tonight right now... It's going to be Old Cucumber Soup with Spare Ribs, Dried Scallop, Red Dates, etc... Sounds good? I sure hope it taste good, cos we are not able to find those really old cucumber we have in Singapore. We'll see~ I'll be making Brown rice, Stir-fried Choy Sum with Garlic, Pan-fried Saba (Mackerel) Fish and Shrimp and Onion Omelete... (All the nutrients Bao bao needs)

Had a lil chat earlier on with my Bestie... She is not doing too good~ I wish I could be there physically to pull her up from the hole she's in. It's not her fault and she deserve better, so much better... I'm not so worried about her hurting herself physically, but mentally, I sure hope she'll be strong and focus enough... I'm hundreds of miles away, but I'll be trying hard to make sure she goes thru the tough times... Don't be shy to call on me... "I'll be here or anywhere for you~ Hugs~" One day when she reads this, she'll be smiling and thinking how miraculously she'd recovered! I'm waiting for the day to come! =)

By the way, not everything is dirt cheap in BKK... It didn't take me long to realise that their imported goods were so much more expensive! I was checking out Medela Swing Breast Pump which costs S$336.90, whereas in Bangkok it costs a ridiculous S$440! I'll be looking forward to my Sept trip back home to buy all the necessary goods!

Have you heard of Fit Flops? Bet you did! But do you own a pair? I thought they were the ugliest pair of flip flops I've ever laid my eyes on... Guess what? Now, I actually own a pair! Guess again? I love it!! It's my life-saving pair of footwear right now... They're so comfy! Especially when my feet needs all the support they can get. I can literally walk for hours without feeling sore~ All my other footwears are now being chucked aside... Forget about prettiness... My Fit Flop is MY FIRST CHOICE! haha... (I sound like a salesman already...) Speaking of which, I got mine in Peddar Red in Singapore for S$125 whereas they are selling it at S$150~ in K Village here! So I Fit Flops are definitely going into my TO-GET LIST in September.

My Comfy Shoes

I'm surprised at the number or stores in K-Village (A new place in Sukhumvit Soi 26)... We went there for dinner and a walk last night... Reminds me of the design of Factory Outlets in Las Vegas and Osaka... Only it's not selling Factory Outlet stuffs... Anyone visiting Bangkok should go take a look... Pretty place... Many restaurants offering different types of cuisine too!
We chose to eat at a Chinese restaurant for some simple HK cuisine...

If you watched 食神, you'll notice the resemblance in this bowl of rice...
(They try to mimick the tear-jerking rice (黯然销魂饭) Stephen Chow made in the movie...
Sadly, Tiki didn't get he desired emotions with this bowl and YES! this one is with Salted Eggs~)

My Bowl of Boring Wonton Noodle Soup

Finally bought a gold chain for my wedding band too! I didn't know what is 23k (96.5% purity) gold until we went to the gold shop here~ Apparently, in Thailand, the gold they sell are all 23k. Well, it's just a lil less than 24k gold but better than 18k gold... Almost pure... I'm just happy that I can be wearing my wedding band again! =)

Oh ya, just done with The Help... quite a nice read but I was a teeny weeny disappointed with the ending... It sort of ended abruptly. Sigh... wish there were more~ I'm impressed by the guts of the author for writing about the town she came from... Could be quite controversial for the town's people when they read it... I suppose there are alot of truth in that book... They're gonna bring the book into the Big Screen.

Starting with The Mother's Tale... Looks like a peculiar piece yet truthful perspective of Motherhood. Some details are too disturbing for me to read on... About things a mother would imagine doing to her kid (dark thoughts)... As much as I like this sort of novels, I'll try to avoid picking up the bad behaviours... Anyway, I've just commenced... Will update when I finished the book...
