  • Able to stand up by himself with support
  • He can Hi-Five
  • Tyler can ROAR when Roared at during playtime
  • Very interested in the food we eat and will lick or smack his lips when he sees us eating something.
  • If we're feeding him snacks, he'll tug at our hands to say he wants more
  • He can feed himself snacks with pincer grip sometimes too... But most times he'll just open his mouth!
Mealtime:
  • Feeding formula about 3 times a day.
  • About 8oz in the morning when he wakes up
  • Tea time about 5 to 7oz depending on his mood
  • Bedtime milk around 5 to 6oz
  • Daily intake of up to 20oz.
  • Takes semi solids everyday for lunch at 11am and 5pm dinner.
  • 10 tbsp of porridge -One small rice bowl.
  • 1oz of fruits after each meal to aid his poo poo
  • Sits in high chair for meals.

  • Sleeping time is before 9pm.
  • Sleeps in his cot for naps.
  • Halfway thru night time sleep, he will cry to be carried into the room with us.
  • Sometimes he will stir and whine up to 4 times a night wants to pat pat.
  • Getting very restless during sleep. Once he whines, we will go into his room to pat him, but when we try to put him back in his cot, he will open his eyes to check if we're still standing there, in the dark! If we're not, he will wail!!!
  • Still needs soother during all sleep.
At 9 Month:

He still has problems with hard poo poo. But it's getting better after I start giving him fruits.

Tyler is very chatty and can go on and on and on... Almost as if he's complaining to me... Enjoys splashing water in the bath getting me all wet while he laughs!

He walks in his walker all around the house, pulling and tugging things... His favourite is the laundry! He can maneuver, follow and chase us too~

His crawling still needs a bit more polishing as we're afraid that he'll slip cos the flooring is abit slippery. So most times he'll only crawl around his gym area.

He's pulling himself up to stand. Likes to play with the "Stirring Soup" toy while standing. He falls sometimes, bumping his head! Oops! hehe~

Very very playful boy... He wants attention all the time. If you play with him, he's so much fun. But if you so much as leave him alone for a minute, he'll scream and cry... He'll chase after me in his walker!

Tiki plays hide and seek on the bed with him almost daily... Tiki will hide behind a pillow and Tyler will actually crawl over and pull down the pillow, looking for Daddy! Then they'll both laugh! Tiki will chase him by roaring then catching and tickling him... He'll crawl away very quickly! That's where he learnt how to roar at people! hahaha~

8 Month Check:

We went to visit Dr Ngiam just for a check since we've been back from Bangkok.
He says he's happy with Tyler's growth and that there it is not neccessary to see him until Tyler is 1 year old, due for his next vaccination.

I asked Dr N's advise about the amount of milk infant at Tyler's age require, Dr N's reply was, "ZERO!" His arguement is Milk is purely food! Infants drink milk because they are unable to digest or swallow any solids. But once your child has started on solids, it is not neccessary to feed him milk. Intense marketing of formula milk makes us believe that we HAVE to give it to our children. Only feed him if he wants. I was shocked... Well, my opinion is, as long as I can, I will try to let Tyler continue drinking milk for easy calcium and other nutrients. Then again, I won't be so stress about it though~ ;)

Tyler is 7 Months Old~

Milestones:
  • 2 lower front teeth emerged
  • Able to sit without support
  • Able to be on all fours (push UP position) trying to crawl but so far only backwards.
  • I'm not sure if this is considered as a milestone. Tyler is beginning to show signs of separation anxiety. Each time he sees me walk away he starts to whine and cry. Even when someone else is holding him. He prefers me or Tiki to sooth him to sleep.
Mealtime:
  • Feeding formula about 3 to 4 times a day. 4oz to 8oz depending on his mood~ ;)
  • Daily intake of 15 to 20oz.
  • 2tbsp of Fruits & yogurt or baby rice for brunch.
  • 1/2 cup of porridge (usually 1oz of protein, 1oz to 2 oz of veges, and 1oz of rice with sprinkles of ikan bilis, cheese)
  • He's able to sit in the high chair during mealtimes now... But he gets distracted easily...
Sleep:
  • Able to nap a longer period without waking every 30 to 40mins. Can nap up to 1 and half hour without stirring. Requires 3 naps a day still... He gets cranky or hyperactive when being deprived of nap.
  • Sleep time is being gradually extended to about 7 to 7.30pm to prep him for changes in lifestyle.
  • Still needs soother during all sleep. Sometimes wakes up for it.
7 Month Check:

Dr T. advises on the amount of solids to introduce to Tyler. Tyler's weight still lies within the 50 percentile so there's nothing much to worry about. Plus he's always jumping and playing happily. He seems to meet most of the milestones at his age. He took his 3rd shot of Pnuemococcal vaccine. Screamed for about 3seconds until I hold him up. =)
This is the last time we visit Dr T... We're all pretty sad because she's fantastic and I don't think we can ever find someone as good or nice as her in Singapore... We're definitely going to miss the service of BNH hospital cos it's definite that we won't be getting anything close back home...

Happy Meal Day!

I'm SO happy today!
Yes! I'm lovin' it~

Although milk intake wasn't THAT good... At least he had 18oz today... Very minimum~
BUT!

Tyler did a FANTASTIC job with solids today! *clap clap*

He had at least 3tbsp of Banana Pear Yogurt for lunch after 2oz of milk.
(1tbsp of plain Yogurt, 1 cube of Pear puree and 1 small Banana)
This is the 2nd day I've given him yogurt and he seems to love it!! I had to feed him in lightning speed cos he gulp down so fast! It took me about 10 mins to finish feeding him... =)

For dinner tonight, he had 1/2 of a rice bowl of pureed Pumpkin Porridge after 5oz of milk!
(1 cube Pumpkin puree, 1 tsp white rice, 1 tbsp brown rice mix, ikan bilis/soybean stock)
I know he loves porridge and I sure hope he will keep loving the dish!

I don't even know how to describe my joy when I see Tyler polish off the food I've prepared for him... Hopefully he'll establish solids real soon and start to love and appreciate food like Mummy & Daddy do~ Then I can practice and improve my culinary skills!

Amazed!!

My Oriental Baby

Little Tyler has a tooth emerging from his lower gums~

I reckon that was why for the past week his milk intake was significantly low. I literally had to fight with him every single feed. Looks like I've worried and got upset for nothing! Feel quite bad for treating him like the way I did when what he needed was Mummy's *TLC~ ;)

For the past couple of days, Tyler had been having porridge (with ikan bilis and soy bean stock) for dinner. I'll mix in a cube of frozen pureed pumpkin, carrot or brocolli in it. So far, he's loving it!! Usually, he'll devour at least 2 to 3 tablespoons! That's vast improvement in terms of solids on our end! Keep it up, lil one!!

I'm thinking he's a very Chinese boy (just like his Daddy) since he doesn't fancy cereal that much as compared. He likes, pear and banana too! Going to let him try some Avocado next week! Thinking of all the different menus I can put up for Tyler! How exciting!!

I've also gotten to feeding him water or steamed water from fruits with spoon during solid meals. Well, most of it got spilled out from his mouth for sure. But he's learning!! Today, he tried steam apple water... I should've had a camera in hand... He made a "sng sng" sour face completed with the "sng sng" sour shudder! LoL~ It was so funny!! Lakshmi (my help) and me couldn't stop giggling at him... hehe~

Speaking of which, while I feed him solids, in between few mouthful, it'll be a spoonful of liquid/water. Sometimes, he starts to clamp shut his mouth for the solids... But then I say, "WATER~" he will open his mouth for the drink!! I was very very amazed and impressed that my boy can comprehend this word! I'm happy with his development so far... I'll be looking forward to and waiting for more surprises!

Tyler is 6 Months Old~

Baby Tyler is 6 Months Old!
Milestones:

  • Able to flip over and back
  • Able to sit like a tripod for a few moments
  • Able to reach out for his toys
  • Able to display unhappiness when toy is being taken away
  • Laughs out loud during play time
  • Talks out loud too
  • Trying very hard to crawl
  • Sings when he's sleepy

Mealtime:

  • Currently putting Tyler in sling to be able to walk and swing about while he drinks milk (worked well initial week... getting bad once again and I seriously am out of ideas)
  • Merely 15 to 20oz a day.
  • Taking about 2teaspoons of puree with baby rice for lunch.
  • Taking about 1tablespoon of baby rice with veges or fruits.
  • (Doesn't like to sit in high chair... Only feed well when being held on lap.)
  • Love baby rusk & finished the whole piece! But it's full of sugar, so I'll try not to give him so often.

Sleep:

  • Still requires nap of about an hour every 2hour or so wake time.
  • Gets sleepy by 6.30pm but getting difficult to settle as he still wants to play.
  • Toss and turn to tummy down (very worrying initially... had to keep an eye every so often just to check that he's breathing)

6 Months Check:
Dr T is still worried about the amount of milk he's taking. Being 20oz as the minimum standard. Also, his weight gain is not ideal. (I AM VERY STRESS!!!) He's healthy and happy... (I'm not!) I'll try to encourage more solids. He was playing, shouting and laughing so loudly in the Dr's office while playing with the nurse! She was swinging him towards a string of hanging toy birds... However much he's like me, this part about birds is definitely not from my end! So, he was given 2nd dose of Rota virus and also a combo shot of Hep B, etc. He screamed with pain for about 5secs and stopped to a 3sec whimper after I picked him up.

Weight: 8.14kg
Height: 69.5cm

Am sick and tired of listening to useless advise about feeding and telling me not to worry. (If he's your kid, will you not worry?! URGH!!!) No constructive answers to my problems. Nothing's ever gonna get better... it'll only get worse! No use praying because it I have no faith anymore~ it's been 4 months! I'm tired... physically and mentally... Realley tired~
